Info on the event: Financial Planning Considerations For Long-Distance Caregiving America’s changing demographics have altered the way in which we care for seniors. According to the American Society on Aging, Americans have more than a 70% likelihood of needing some form of long-term care after age 65. With the first Baby Boomers turning 65 this year, caregiving needs will only increase. Nearly 7 million Americans provide care for a relative or friend who lives at least one hour away and spend an average of 35 hours per month giving care. It takes money to grow old in America, and it takes money to care for aging loved ones! This session will offer some ideas on how to manage financial considerations for long-distance caregiving. You can share these ideas with your senior clients and their loved ones who may live far away. | Caremore Health Plan - l | | |

My name is Rina Sutaria and I'm the Outside Sales Account Manager at Easter Seals Bay Area where we provide aquatic therapy to seniors and the disabled. I attended the Round Table event at O'Connor Hospital yesterday and was impressed by the group! What a great way to network and learn more about other organizations that offer services for seniors.
I would really love the opportunity to be a guest speaker at one of the Santa Clara County Roundtable events. I know that your venues have all been finalized but I see on the website that you need speakers for some of the meetings.
Please let me know which dates are available. I look forward to attending future meetings and learning more about other organizations.
Thanks,
Rina

Westgate Villa/Amberwood Gardens would like to offer our facility for a meeting next year for the Senior Roundtable. Would you be the one to talk to? Regards, Tina Alexander Community Relations Manager
If you ever want me to show a 25 min. documentary I made about a 5 generation family of females from age 8 to 103 (she died at 104), I'd be happy to talk about it as it's inspirational for professionals to see a family of caregivers that love and care for each other and the wisdom they impart to share with our clients.I've shown it to many professional groups, caregiver groups and college classes.Vivian I. Subject: Re: Senior Roundtable: offering to be a speaker at an upcoming
meeting
Hello Stephen,
I would like to speak at an upcoming event about caregiving issues for
ethnic minority families caring for relative with dementia. We have a
particular project right now that focuses on helping Chinese American
caregivers deal with the stress of this, and we have actually created a
DVD series to teach them coping skills like how to manage problem
behaviors, etc. which we are now trying to evaluate.
We are seeking participants for our program evaluation, and thought
that making people aware of it who come to Senior Round Table meetings
might be a good way to locate interested persons.
I emailed you to volunteer, a few weeks ago & you said the coordinating
committee was interested, but I haven't heard anything back, and would
love to get this settled on my calendar. I am not sure of your regular
meeting dates, times, and places... and since I am not myself Chinese,
I would love to bring at least one of the Chinese American colleagues
who work on this project with me, and who could explain things in a
more culturally sensitive way. Dr. Peng Chih Wang would love to do this
if he can work it into his schedule, but he also works full time and has to arrange "time off"
depending on time of day, day of the week, and your location. He works
in San Mateo and I'm based at Stanford so we are not too close by...
So, would you be so kind as to please let us know when we could do our
presentation? we dont need more than 1/2 hr. if time is tight, but we
could go for 45 min or an hour, if that would be appropriate. We can
use slides
(powerpoint) or have it more as an informal discussion. I think right
now the key thing is getting it on our calendars~
thank you so much for assisting us with this process and we look
forward to hearing from you soon. If you'd rather contact me by phone my cell is:

Hi Steve, I am writing to find out if you need speakers for the round table. Here at Idylwood care Center, Sunnyvale, we have been developing a horticulture and culinary program along with an organic garden, as a part of a cultural change emphasis in our facility. Next month the program will be getting national attention when the publisher ActionPact brings out a new publication about our program.
Franco Diamond, our administrator would be happy to speak at the round table. Please call me on 408-739-2383 if you would like to arrange me to arrange this. I think the round table group would find his talk very stimulating and interesting.
Thanks, Pauline Wakeham, LCSW
